Projects are more than just walls. On the road, we explore local environments and the people who inhabit them, and set about capturing that energy through different lenses and light, often with people we meet along the way. This process is an important part of informing what later happens in the studio, collaging my own photographs into new reference compositions for paintings. Some of the images here were taken by photographer Jose Delou, who maintains his own practice. Whether shooting the painting process in action or staging moments, his eye and experience helps to guide and capture the energy of these ephemeral moments.
